Spiky Rose Quilt Pattern by Fig Tree

Flower blocks have always been one of my favorite blocks to design and interpret and I think a large part of that stems from the fact that I would really love to spend more time in the garden. Spiky Rose is my vision of a late summer garden in full bloom, each flower showcasing a new color combination. Blocks are pieced on a variety of low volume and color backgrounds for a wonderful "mix and match" scrappy quilt! Build your own blooms and leaves and watch your garden grow. Perfect as a quilt or a smaller version in a table runner.

Fabric Requirements

Color Block Background: (5) ½ yds. [gold, cantaloupe, lilac, tan and green]
Ivory Block Background: (3) ¾ yds. ivory/low volume prints
Green Leaves: (4) ¼ yds. various greens
Ivory Leaves: (2) ⅛ yds. and (2) ⅜ yd. various ivory prints
Ivory/Light Petals: (3) ⅜ yds. ivory/cream or soft tan prints
Color Petals: (5) ⅜ yds. prints [red, gold, lilac, cantaloupe & tan]
Stems: (2) ¼ yds. [(1) small green print and (1) small ivory print]
Inner Border: ½ yd. small ivory print
Outer Border: ¾ yd. green floral print
Backing: 3 ⅞ yds. green floral print
Binding: ⅝ yd. small lilac print
