I love snowflakes, love everything about their delicate uniqueness and the symbol that they are of fresh, cool Winter nights and the glory of a blanket of snow. Each one is different, unique, and remarkable. It is so hard to imagine that no two are actually alike! When I set out to create this quilt, I thought perhaps I might make each block different...but then I thought better of it! This rendition simply uses the same snowflake in several different red prints reversed in the center blocks for a simple but stunning effect. With some simple piecing, we can achieve and perhaps capture some of that wonder in a quilt block. This is what I have tried to do here. Rendered in a red & cream palette it is a traditional Christmas quilt. Changed to a scrappy version or blue & white, the look and feel can become dramatically altered to fit your own feel and sensibilities.

MATERIALS LIST
Blocks:
(3) different 3/4 yds. similar red prints [I used reds from the Gypsy Rose collection]
Setting Triangles:
7/8 yd. extra of 1 of the above reds
Outer Border:
1 yd. red [repeat from above or another]
Cream Background:
2 1/4 yd. solid or tiny print [I used the tiny allover cream print from the Gypsy Rose collection]
Binding:
1/2 yd. apple green
