To say that I am a little bit obsessed... well that would be an understatement. I love quilty bags. I love seeing them, I love dreaming about making them and sometimes once in a while, I even make a pouch or two. But I just don't need that many pouches and so then I stop making them for a while. But these... I COULD MAKE A DOZEN OF THESE AND I COULD PROBABLY STILL FIND A USE FOR SOME MORE. Project Bags are perfect for travel and for organization.
In my case... I am going to organize every single UFO and every single partial project that I have. For me I start a few blocks of a quilt every time I teach and then I hope to maybe turn it into a quilt one day and the blocks and partial blocks just get laid aside. PROJECT BAGS for the win!!!
I have never been a big fan of the plastic or vinyl ones because I am much more of a cotton and patchwork kind of gal. So I am going to include little hanging tags that will tell what is inside and avoid all of that plastic in the process.
Can you tell I am excited? So from the comments you guys have left and the emails I have gotten, I am getting the feeling that many of you would like to make some project bags of your own... so I have THREE things for you.
ONE:
The written tutorial is on the blog now. You can follow it and make your own bags right now!
TWO:
The video tutorial is in the works. I have all the steps ready and I just have to put it all together. There is already a REEL in my INSTAGRAM feed if you want to take a look there too for all of you visual learners.
THREE
: A starter kit with all the extras you will need to make your bags is here! You will need to find your own scraps [if you are making the scrappy patchwork bags] or you will need to make the fruit blocks of your choice or any other blocks for that matter. This kit will have everything else- other than the front fabric and lining- that you need!
Kit contains the following:
• 1/2 yd. cut of (4) different natural canvas/linens in the following prints [ 2+ yds...enough for the backs or fronts of lots and lots of bags]:
Mochi linen/grey color
Cream Stitchers Canvas
Vintage ruler "Measure UP" 54" cotton canvas
Tan print canvas
• 1 roll of double sided seam tape
• 1 large double headed zipper in 30" size
• 2 cream/ivory zipper in 24" size
• 2 Fig Tree exclusive zipper pulls
• 1 Fig Tree enamel pin for decorating
• Piece of leather colored Kraft-Tex for tags
• 1/2 yd. Pellon Fleece
• 1 yd. Fig Tree green ribbon
• 1 tube of Glue Dab It for the binding
