I saw this "commonplace" vintage quilt, drawn by hand in a quilt picture book. I loved it on sight and instantly set to figuring out how to piece it without any templates or fancy piecework- both of which were in the original!

Here is the result - perhaps one of the most simple quilts I have made with such stunning results. The colors can be varied of course, any traditional combination would look wonderful - the original was done in off white, orange and a red center star.
