So there is something about the pomegranate image in appliqué that gets me every time. The beautiful fruit images in reds, greens and creams... they just speak to me every time I see them in vintage quilts especially. They just feel like Christmas! But I don't love intricate appliqué and I find that I start projects like that and then don't finish them. So I designed a quilt that had just a few oversized blocks [20" actually], made them out of fantastic wool [from Weeks Dye Works] and made the pieces themselves big and chunky and OH SO SIMPLE to make. Actually... perfect for beginning appliqué due to their size and wool... really I promise! Add in some large oversized flying geese and you have yourself a Christmas Heirloom in the making!Note: the center of each pomegranate will be a piece of polka dot fabric... but don't worry, you won't actually have to appliqué the fabric... it will be tucked under 2 pieces of wool... yeah! This quilt is still a work in progress around here and I am so very excited to work on it in front of the fireplace and the Christmas tree after this sale is all done.Quilt Kit Includes: Weeks Dye Works hand dyed wool for the appliqué, green, red and cream cottons for the sashing and border, cream linen for the background and red solid cotton for the binding. Also includes pattern. I am so very excited to see this one come together!Quilt Size: 52" x 52"
