I fell in love with this retro vintage collection from Julie and Eric Comstock the moment I saw it. It is called Twenty-Three and it is filled with retro colors and images such as vintage cameras, old ticket stubs and a fabulous novelty fabric. Not sure why it took me so long to dig it out and play around with it! The result is a fun and simple block with a simple sashing and a small border. At app. 65" x 83" I think it will make a perfect picnic quilt this summer and perhaps a bed quilt later on for my daughter! I started off with an old Layer Cake pattern that we did called Blossom, but made a bunch of little changes so am writing up a new pattern sheet just for this project.

The kit is a starter kit which means that it includes all the fabrics that you will need to make all of the blocks and block backgrounds as well as the posts as seen in the quilt. Use any cream you have for the sashing or purchase some of our favorite SNOW cream fabric [ you would need app. 1 1/4 yds. for the sashing] . The border and backing fabrics are also available or you can use something you have [ more border and backing explanations and info are available on those links if you choose to purchase those]. Binding would be on your own. The kit includes the free pattern created just for this kit.

The bundle also includes a 1/2 yd novelty fabric for labels or a pillow. Not only that, but the leftover fabrics from these large blocks also leave enough fabric to make another 144 fabulous 1/2 square triangle squares. I am in the process of figuring how to use them and will share that as soon as we come up with something! Photos are of the unquilted quilttop. It is on its way to the quilter now!
