Every quilter should make at least one of these gorgeously classic patterns in their lifetime. There is something about the lone start that is unmistakably American quilt making at its best. We have worked out a way to do it where you don't have to use templates, y-seams or any other special technique. Just patience and a slow hand! Pattern includes dozens of hints and tips for success working with angles, strip sets and bias.

(1) Jelly Roll + (1) 1/4 yd. soft red print [other extra strips will be used from border/applique fabrics] -OR- (49) 2 1/2" strips

Inner Border:
1/2 yd. tone on tone red print
Outer Border:
1 3/8 yds. small cream print
Applique/Extra Star Strips:
3/4 yd. red solid
Backing:
