Downloadable Version of our Apple Pie Pattern

There is just something about a Layer Cake [a precut made up of 10” squares of each fabric in a collection] that makes us designers get creative. It is a perfect way to feature an entire collection without spending a fortune. It is the perfect way to get creative and yet stay simple and fun to make. This was one of those patterns that was born from the desire to showcase our newest collection in a fun way! Pattern has two versions, one made with a Layer Cake and a slightly smaller one made with 2 Charm Packs.

BLOCK SIZE: (30) 8 1/2" finished
QUILT SIZE: app. 68 1/2" x 80" -OR- Charm pack version 60" x 70"

MATERIALS LIST
Blocks:
(1) Layer Cake [consists of (40) 10" squares] -OR-
(15) fat 1/8, fat 1/4 or 1/4 yds. of assorted colors
Accent/Sashing:
1 1/2 yd. [black solid or charcoal crossweave]
Background:
2 3/4 yd. [cream solid]
Inner Border:
1/2 yd. [small black check]
Outer Border:
1 yd. [small red print]
Backing:
4 7/8 yd. [print of your choice]
Binding:
5/8 yd. [small black print]

CHARM SIZED APPLE PIE
BLOCK SIZE: 7" finished block/7 1/2" unfinished
QUILT SIZE: 60" x 70"
From the 1st charm pack:
Choose (30) 5" squares [a].
From the 2nd charm pack:
Choose the same (30) squares and cut (4) 1 3/4" x 2 1/2" [b] from each square.
From accent chain fabric [black solid, crossweave or other]:
Cut (5) 1 3/4" strips. Cut into (120) 1 3/4" squares [c].
Cut (7) 2 1/4" strips. Cut into (120) 2 1/4" squares and cut in 1/2 on the diagonal to yield (240) triangles [d].
Cut (8) 1 1/2" strips. Lay aside for the Nine-patches
From background fabric [ivory solid]:
Cut (7) 2 1/4" strips. Cut into (120) 2 1/4" squares and cut 1/2 on the diagonal to yield (240) triangles [e].
Cut (15) 3 1/2" strips. Cut into (71) 3 1/2" x 7 1/2" sashings [f].
Cut (7) 1 1/2" strips. Lay aside for the Nine-patches.
From the inner border fabric [aqua crisscross]:
Cut (7) 1 1/2" strips.
Piece for length and cut into (2) 1 1/2" x 63 1/2" L/R and (2) 1 1/2" x 55 1/2" T/B.
From the outer border fabric [medium red print]:
Cut (7) 3" strips.
Piece for length and cut into (2) 3" x 65 1/2" L/R and (2) 3" x 60 1/2" T/B.
For binding [black dot]:
Cut (7) 2 1/4" binding strips.
